For one assignment in my figure drawing class we had to recreate a work by Degas. I chose "The Tub" [link] As much as I hated the idea of recreating a famous work of art, it taught me a lot about using pastels.

I saw your work and, the degas and, i viewed them side by side;
Degas nails the whole body the tub and, part of the room
You nailed some of the body some of the tub and, all-most no part of the room.

Granted he was a master and, u are but a pupil.
But one day you will be a master in your own right.

I don't know if that would better or worse than the Degas assignment. I hated it.
